Gila Miriam Ghermiza, a mother of 9, was reportedly a regular mother and businesswoman, an owner of her own business, and involved in community projects.

That is, until she was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease. Also known as ALS, the disease affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, causing loss of muscle control. Gila became completely paralyzed from her entire body down. She can no longer work, and she became completely reliant on her family for basic needs.

With no cure, her husband and children watch her dying a little every day. Unable to breathe on her own, she relies on a breathing machine 24/7 to stay alive. However, the breathing apparatus costs $10,000 per month, an amount the family valiantly paid for 8 years.

Tragically, in a recent public video, the husband said they can’t afford one more day. Their savings are wiped out and they are severely in debt.

At risk of being pulled off the machine, they pleaded with the public to keep their mother alive. Although her body has completely failed her, her mind works 100% and her children desperately need her alive.

“My kids need me. They need me alive, and they need me home. You have no idea how badly we need the money. Every donation will go towards paying for my breathing machine and making our apartment accessible for my condition so I can stay at home with my kids. Please open your hearts and help us.”
