Flood waters bring danger for Newton County | Local News

Officers with the Newton County Sheriff’s Department have now rescued a total of three people from the raging floodwaters on Cow Creek near Farm to Market Road 1416.

Sheriff Robert Burby said the search for latest missing began just before sunset on Wednesday when it was reported that two men had been carried away by the raging water.

Burby said shortly after 9:00 pm that one of the men had been found and he was safe and sound. However, Burby said the second person not found until later in the evening.

No name or other details have been released. Burby said that earlier in the day another similar incident occurred and in that case the driver of an eighteen wheeled tractor trailer truck was reused from the water.

Sheriff Burby is asking everyone driving roads in Newton County to remain alert and stay safe. He said even though some roads look passible thy may not be.
